Tom first took up an interest
in the pipes while living in Virginia. His mother always told him he had enough
air to blow up a potato sack, so playing bagpipes should be second nature. He
found the local band, the Emerald Society of Greater Richmond, and became immersed in performing and competition.
Fate would bring him to Texas where he became involved with Hamilton
school of piping led by Lars
Sloan. Soon to follow, he also joined another performing band named Tartanic, which he toured with all over most of the US,
playing at multiple festivals and highland games. Currently, Tom is a member of
the highly acclaimed world champion pipe band, the Grade 2 St. Thomas
Alumni Band, formerly known as
the Hamilton Pipe Band. The
alumni band is led by PM Jeremy Freeman and directed by gold medalist Mike
Cusak.
